Hacker groups supported by Beijing often use innocuous-sounding names like FishMonger, MirrorFace, Volt Typhoon, and Salt Typhoon. However, behind these names are aggressive cyber-espionage operations—some directly linked to the Chinese military—targeting critical U.S. infrastructure, such as utilities and telecom networks. While the U.S. government and cybersecurity experts have confidently attributed these activities to China, the Chinese government seems to have stopped trying to conceal its involvement in these malicious cyber efforts.
